Oracle Database@AWS: Oracle and AWS Announce Partnership

Oracle Database@AWS: Oracle and AWS Announce Partnership

Oracle and AWS have launched Oracle Database@AWS, enabling customers to access Oracle Autonomous Database and Exadata Database Service on AWS infrastructure. This offering simplifies database management, billing, and customer support while allowing seamless integration with AWS services, including Amazon EC2, AWS Analytics, and AI/ML services like Amazon Bedrock.

Oracle Database@AWS offers direct access to Oracle Exadata Database Service and Oracle Autonomous Database on dedicated infrastructure, enabling seamless integration of enterprise data for innovation. With low-latency connections between Oracle databases and AWS applications, customers benefit from the performance, security, and cost-effectiveness of Oracle Exadata, combined with the flexibility and sustainability of AWS.

“We're seeing high demand from customers wanting to use multiple clouds,” said Larry Ellison, Oracle Chairman and CTO. “To meet this need, Amazon and Oracle are connecting AWS services with Oracle's latest Database technology, including Oracle Autonomous Database. By deploying Oracle Cloud Infrastructure inside AWS datacenters, customers get top-tier database and network performance."

“Since 2008, customers have run Oracle workloads in the cloud, and many of the world’s largest organizations trust AWS for deploying Oracle software,” added Matt Garman, AWS CEO. “This partnership brings Oracle Database services directly to AWS, offering customers flexibility, reliability, and scalability.”

Oracle Database@AWS enables faster cloud migration and IT modernization, offering customers benefits such as:

  • Zero-ETL integration between Oracle Database and AWS Analytics services allows customers to securely connect and analyze data across both platforms, enabling faster insights without the need to build data pipelines.
  • Flexible migration options make it easy to move Oracle databases to the cloud, with support for tools like Oracle Zero Downtime Migration for a smooth, accelerated process.
  • A streamlined procurement process through AWS Marketplace allows customers to purchase Oracle Database services using their AWS commitments and existing Oracle licenses, including Bring Your Own License (BYOL) and discount programs like Oracle Support Rewards (OSR).
  • A unified support experience from AWS and Oracle offers customers guidance through reference architectures, landing zones, and other resources to successfully build and run their enterprise applications in the cloud.
  • Seamless integration with Amazon S3 enables easy, secure database backups, restorations, and supports disaster recovery efforts.

Customers can easily launch Oracle Database@AWS using familiar tools like the AWS Management Console, CLI, or AWS CloudFormation. They can also leverage AWS's multi-AZ architecture for higher availability. Oracle Database@AWS will be available in preview later this year, with broader availability in 2025 as it expands to more regions.
